2011-2012 New York Rangers Playoffs

It’s time kiddies.

All that effort and all the ups and downs of the season culminate to this – The Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Rangers.

Senators.

7pm at The Garden.

Boo-Ya.
Regular Season Series

Ottawa took the regular season series 3-1 (1 SO) but that doesn’t mean squat today. Well, maybe not a whole lot of squat but still. We’re being positive here. We’re not going to mention that the Rangers were outscored 14-8 or that their power play was 2 for 13 in the four games against the Senators.

What To Expect

What we are going to mention though is that this team has the best defense in the Eastern Conference – third best in the entire NHL – and the best goalie in the East. We’re also going to mention that Ottawa has the 24th ranked defense in the NHL and the worst of all 8 Eastern Conference teams. That’s a field that includes the Florida Panthers mind you! So there are plenty of reasons to be positive here.

Expect a low scoring affair with the Rangers needing to take advantage of a piss poor defense to advance. They’ll also need to solve the Anderson Riddle. Did you know he’s 6-0 with a 1.14GAA, a .965 SV%, and 2 shutouts in his career at MSG? I didn’t even know he played that many games at MSG.

On the other side of the puck, they’ll need to keep a close watch on Erik Karlsson and Jason Spezza. Keep those two in check and Old Man Alfredsson should be a non-factor. Start with smart, defensive hockey and build from there.

Can they do it? Starting tonight, we’ll see if they can.
Rangers in 6.

LETS GO RANGERS!

P.S. – Discuss the game here.
