God, does this late-July/early-August time period suck. Nothing interesting going on whatsoever in the hockey universe, especially for Ranger fans. No news on Zherdev in a while, and the Heatley rumors have died out.
On XM’s Hockey This Morning earlier today, Scott Laughlin was so starved for things to talk about that he spent a full two minutes discussing the Flames’ waiver wire pickup of Nigel Dawes. Mirtle the Great is soliciting predictions from his readers for the final season standings…a full two and a half months before the season even begins. Wyshinski gets credit for digging up some interesting stories here and there, although anyone outside of Boston doesn’t really give a shit about how boring Phil Kessel is, unless you’re Larry Brooks crying that the trade of a 3rd-round draft pick has somehow blocked the Rangers’ ability to sign him. Even the inimitable Down Goes Brown is reaching lately, and has only been able to come up with some musings on the new Maple Leaf uniform designs, a “story” also picked up by Puck Daddy. (The Rangerland vote: any Leafs uniform modification that doesn’t include the word “douche” is a fail.)
So what’s a hockey fan to do? Beats the hell out of us. On our forums, we’re discussing such exciting news as the Enver Lisin signing, and which centers around the league we’d like to have to set up Marian Gaborik, even though there is absolutely no chance whatsoever that the Rangers can trade for any of them.
So go, like, take a walk outside, or read a book or something. Awful, I know. But take heart, there will be plenty to whine and complain about soon enough.
Good points made however have you been viewing the aforementioned complications that IE 8 shows with your blog theme?
